Removing Rust

The real secret to dealing with rust is to remove as much of it as possible before attempting to apply a new finish. Depending upon the configuration of the item in question, removing rust can be a tedious process that requires lots of elbow grease. In the final analysis, the rust must be removed down to bare metal.

After the rust has been removed, the metal should be dried and then primed within 24 hours to avoid the formation of new rust.
